New Year’s Reflection

It’s that time of year again… Goodbye to 2025, and welcome 2026!!! January is upon us (and almost gone already), the holidays are behind us and we’re back into our daily routines. This new year has brought winter storms to many of us, extending the feeling of being on holiday. Regardless of your situation, it’s a new year!

Our busy lives don’t always allow for time to reflect. We feel like we don’t have time to stop what we are doing. It’s unfortunate, because reflection allows us to stay grounded and to be more present and more productive. It allows for learning from mistakes, appreciating wins, and refocusing on what matters most.

For those of us (me included) that neglect reflection, having a reset at the end of the year can be valuable time. A couple of years back I came across this quote: “make this a year to go after progress over perfection.” Let that sit for a minute… progress over perfection…

I encourage you to find some time to sit and reflect. Bring a pen and a notebook so you can take notes. As you reflect on 2025, think about the following…

1.     Take time to breathe. Reflect on the year and recognize both positive and negative moments.

2.     Reflect on what I did well this year.

3.     Reflect on losses, and what they mean to me.

4.      Be grateful to people that impacted me this last year. Send a note, letting them know how they effected my life positively.

5.     Think about ways to be more intentional with relationships (like increasing in person contact)

6.     Contact someone I’ve been meaning to reach out to, but never did.

7.     Think about my career / life goals. How can I make progress (over perfection) in 2026?

Personally, I have committed to being more intentional with prayer, with relationships, and with my health in 2026. For me, it’s about building on progress from 2025. I pray daily for faith, hope, and love.

Feel free to share what you want to progress in 2026!!
